Privacy Policy
Last updated: 15 October 2026
This policy explains what personal information Get A Look In collects when you use getalookin.co.uk, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it and the rights you have. We have written it in plain English. If anything is unclear, email support@getalookin.co.uk.
1. Who we are
Get A Look In is run by Get A Look In Ltd, a UK registered company (company number 17458167), Osbourne Suite, 2.08 Imperial and Whitehall, 23 Colmore Row, Birmingham B3 2BS. We are the controller of your personal information under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (registration number ZC265734).
You can contact us about anything in this policy at support@getalookin.co.uk.
2. The information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your name, email address and password (or your Google account details if you sign in with Google), and a phone number if you choose to add one.
- Your Master CV: the CV file you upload and the text we read from it. A CV usually contains your contact details, employment history, education, qualifications and skills.
- Job adverts: the advert text, job title, employer and link you enter.
- Your preferences: whether you want job opportunity notifications and news and updates from us. Both are off unless you turn them on.
- Messages: anything you send us when you contact us.
Information we create
- Job Match Analyses: the match percentage, strengths, areas to improve and requirements not found in your CV.
- Application packages: the tailored CV, cover letter and interview questions we produce for you.
- CV Polish: the polished version of your CV we produce for you, and the design you choose for it.
- Credit records: the credits you have bought and used.
Payment information
Payments are taken by Stripe. Your card details go straight to Stripe and are never seen or stored by us. Stripe tells us whether the payment succeeded, the amount, and a reference so we can add your credits.
Technical information
When you visit the site, our hosting and security providers automatically process technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. This is used to deliver the site, keep it secure and prevent abuse.
We also use the visitor statistics built into Lovable, the platform our site runs on, to see how many people visit, which pages they view, what type of device they use and which website referred them. These statistics are combined, use no cookies and do not track you across other websites. We use them to improve the site, which is in our legitimate interest. We do not use advertising tracking. See our Cookie Policy.
Some links we share carry a short tag, such as getalookin.co.uk/?ref=linkedin, so we can see which places people find us through. When you arrive through one, or from a search engine or social site such as Google or Facebook, we add one to a count for that tag or site (by name only, never the page or search you came from). If you then create an account with your email, we note it on your account. Nothing is stored on your device for this.
3. Sensitive information
We do not ask for sensitive information such as your health, ethnicity, religion, sexuality, political opinions or criminal record. A CV does not normally need it, so we recommend you leave it out of your Master CV. If you choose to include it, we process it only to provide the service you have asked for, and you can remove it at any time by replacing your Master CV.
4. How we use your information, and our legal reasons
The law requires us to have a lawful basis for each use of your information.
- To provide the service: creating your account, reading your Master CV, producing Job Match Analyses and application packages, adding and using credits, and answering your questions. Basis: performance of our contract with you.
- To take payments and keep financial records. Basis: contract, and our legal obligation to keep tax and accounting records.
- To keep the service secure and working properly: preventing fraud and misuse, fixing faults and checking the quality and accuracy of our results. Basis: our legitimate interest in running a safe, reliable service.
- To send service emails, such as sign-up confirmation, password resets and receipts. Basis: contract.
- To send news, updates and job opportunity notifications, only if you have turned them on. Basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time in Account settings.
- To meet legal requirements and to establish or defend legal claims. Basis: legal obligation and legitimate interests.
5. How our AI works with your information
To produce your Job Match Analysis and application package, the text of your Master CV and the job advert are sent to an artificial intelligence (AI) model, which returns the results to us. Our own checks then compare those results with your Master CV so that nothing is invented.
- The match percentage is an automated assessment to help you decide whether and how to apply. It does not make any decision about you, and we never send it to employers.
- We do not use your CV or your documents to train AI models.
- AI can make mistakes. Always read your documents before you send them to an employer.
6. Who we share your information with
We do not sell your personal information, and we never send your CV to employers or anyone else without your permission. We share it only with the service providers who help us run Get A Look In, under contracts that require them to protect it and use it only on our instructions:
- Lovable: the platform the site is built and run on, including its cloud database, file storage, sign-in, AI gateway and visitor statistics services.
- Supabase: database, secure file storage and account sign-in, provided through Lovable.
- Google: the Gemini AI model that reads your CV and job adverts, and "Sign in with Google" if you choose to use it.
- Stripe: payment processing and fraud prevention.
- Cloudflare: website hosting, delivery and security.
We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect the rights and safety of our customers or others, or with professional advisers such as accountants and lawyers. If the business is ever sold or restructured, your information may pass to the new owner, who must keep to this policy.
7. International transfers
Some of our providers store or process information outside the UK, including in the European Economic Area and the United States. Where they do, the transfer is protected by UK adequacy regulations (including the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework) or by the International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum approved by the UK Information Commissioner.
8. How long we keep your information
- Your account, Master CV, analyses, application packages and CV Polish: for as long as your account is open. You can replace your Master CV at any time, and deleting your account removes all of it.
- Payment records: six years from the end of the financial year they relate to, as UK tax law requires. Stripe keeps its own payment records under its privacy policy.
- Emails you send us: up to two years after we last hear from you, unless they relate to a complaint or legal claim.
- Technical logs: kept by our providers for short periods for security purposes.
Deleted information can remain in secure backups for a short time until those backups are overwritten in the normal way.
9. How we protect your information
Your information is sent over encrypted connections and stored with providers that encrypt it at rest. Your Master CV and documents are kept in private storage that only your account can reach. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach affecting you ever happens we will tell you and the Information Commissioner where the law requires it.
10. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have these rights:
- Access: get a copy of your information. "Download my data" in Account settings gives you one at any time.
- Correction: have information that is wrong put right. You can replace your Master CV yourself.
- Deletion: have your information deleted. "Permanently delete my account" in Account settings does this straight away.
- Restriction and objection: limit or object to how we use your information.
- Data portability: receive your information in a format you can take elsewhere.
- Withdrawing consent: turn off news and notifications at any time in Account settings.
To use any right, email support@getalookin.co.uk. It is free, and we will reply within one month. We may ask you to confirm your identity first.
11. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first at support@getalookin.co.uk so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or 0303 123 1113.
12. Age
Get A Look In is for people aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If you believe a child under 16 has given us their information, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy, for example when we add a feature or change a provider. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If a change significantly affects how we use your information, we will tell you by email or on the site before it takes effect.
